I’m not usually one for reviewing this style of book, or reading it to be honest, but this is the first ‘chick flick’ style book I ever picked up and it taught me a lot about what to look out for in an easy read.

The story is told from the point of view of four different women, with the protagonist Lucy Lombard leading the majority of the narrative. For Lucy there's nothing that chocolate can’t cure - from heartache to a headache - and she's not alone. Sharing her passion are three other addicts: Autumn, Nadia and Chantal. Together they form The Chocolate Lovers' Club.

The story focuses around their chocolate ‘sanctuary’, a little café that serves the most incredible hot chocolate and with a cheating boyfriend who promises he'll change, a flirtatious boss, a gambling husband and a loveless marriage, there's always plenty to discuss.

Honestly, this book is the epitome of an easy read. It will have you laughing along at the girls exploits and begging to know more about their continuously troublesome and dramatic relationships. The story line is engaging and charming and you can’t help but fall in love with the friendship that the girls all have.

If I could describe the book in two words it would most definitely be ‘feel-good’.

Is the story extravagantly exciting? Probably not. Does the plot contain hidden details, complicated meanings and life-altering revelations? Again, nope. But sometimes you don’t want all that literary greatness, you just want a nice, fun and enjoyable read!

It is the perfect book to pick up on a winter’s day, bed socks on, curled up in front of a nice fire with...of course, a hot chocolate.

This book is definitely not for everyone and is most certainly in the genre of ‘chick flick’ but it has everything you would want a chick flick to have. Dreamy male characters, lots of gossip, drama and relatable, funny women who just can’t seem to figure their lives out.

If you're looking for an easy read that will have you reaching for the chocolate tin, look no more!
